Volkswagen has a facelifted version of the Tiguan in the development rooms, a car that seems ready for its market introduction. The camouflage work on this snapped test sample is almost completely absent!
The current generation of the Tiguan was one of the bangers of the IAA in Frankfurt in 2016, which means that the SUV can blow out four candles this year. To make the model current again, Volkswagen is carrying out a facelift on its medium-sized SUV, a facelift that now has little to no surprises in appearance. This test sample photographed in Germany is almost completely stripped of concealed sticker work.
The updated Tiguan gets new LED headlights with a light signature somewhat reminiscent of that of the new Golf. The Tiguan gets a new grille that now extends slightly under the headlight units. In the center of the grille, which is fitted with three horizontal slats, Volkswagen puts its new logo. The lighting units are also adjusted at the rear. Although some sticker work has been applied here, the new layout of the LED segments is all too visible.
It is not yet possible to say with certainty what will change on a technical level. It is possible that Volkswagen also installs the 1.5 TSI with mild-hybrid technology, known from the new Golf, in the new Tiguan. And, would that Tiguan R be there soon? The more than twenty centimeters longer Tiguan Allspace will also be modernized at a later stage.
