Gordon Murray Automotive presents its second model, the T.33. That is the milder brother of the eccentric T.50, although ‘milder’ is quite relative.

Already a year and a half ago Gordon Murray Automotive presented its first car to the world: the T.50. A supercar in the spirit of the McLaren F1 with the beating heart of an extremely vicious 3.9-litre V12 that was developed together with Cosworth especially for the T.50. Developing an engine for just one model seemed a bit enthusiastic to us at the time and as we heard earlier this month, it would not stop there. Here’s the T.33, taking it a little more modestly than the T.50.

However, the term ‘modest’ is also not quite appropriate here. The two-seater supercar has a variant of the same 3.9-liter V12 that has been reduced to 615 hp. This makes it only a mere 50 hp less powerful than the V12 in the T.50. It is also still a particularly high-revving monster, because the maximum power is released at 10,500 rpm. At 9,000 rpm, the V12 releases the maximum torque of 451 Nm. The rev limiter only kicks in at 11,100 rpm, so the T.33 will also sound like a Formula 1 car from bygone times.

To keep it nice and pure, you just have to tame the beast by hand. That is to say: shifting is done with the help of a sequential six-speed gearbox. We can imagine that you have to have quick hands to keep up with the violence. If you want to tackle things a little more easily, you can also have paddle shifters installed for an additional fee.

Gordon Murray Automotive, the firm of McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray, says the T.33 should be a bit more ‘accessible’ than the T.50. We can imagine that it is still a very special experience, although GMA omits what kind of performance it can provide. Since the body is made entirely of carbon fiber, we suspect that the T.33, just like the T.50, weighs less than a ton and that, in combination with that power, promises very special performance. According to GMA, the T.33 weighs “300 kilos less than the average supercar.”

Of course, all this special also comes with a very special price tag. Converted €1.65 million you have to put down for a T.33. If you are one of the lucky 100, that is. Production is limited to 100 copies.
