Smart shows a packed production version of its new electric crossover. The brand also gives the car a name: ‘#1’. Not only in terms of naming does he remain faithful to the ‘Concept #1’, the appearance also shows great similarities.

The #1 name doesn’t exactly deserve the originality award, but hashtags are hip these days. The #1 is the first fruit of the new Smart, in which Mercedes-Benz and Geely both have a 50 percent share. The photos already show the production version of the #1 quite well, although Smart has still provided it with a camouflage print.

The final model largely corresponds to Smart’s patent drawings: the front bumper has a grille with two vents on either side, although they appear slightly smaller than on the patent. The grille, which is also equipped with ‘active grille shutters’, also seems to have a different frame on one of the copies, which may be an extra for a more expensive version. The rear bumper does match again, just like the lighting. Both the headlights and the taillights are connected by an LED strip. The shape of the rear lights is somewhat reminiscent of that of the Mercedes-Benz EQS, which is quite a few steps higher on the ladder.

Furthermore, Smart reports that the #1 has a cW value of 0.29. The interior of the #1 is not yet to be seen and Smart is also not releasing anything about the specifications for the time being. Its dimensions are not expected to differ much from the Concept #1, which measures 4.29 meters in length and has a wheelbase of 2.75 meters. The #1 will be on Geely’s SEA platform. The introduction of the Smart #1 is planned for later this year.
