Mercedes-Benz is also preparing a 4×4² version of the current G-class generation. The extra-tall and even more off-road G-class is approaching the final stage of development.

With the end of the primal G in sight, Mercedes-Benz pulled the curtain on the special G 500 4×4² seven years ago. It actually went into production later that year. That instantly became the most extreme G-class available ex-works when it came to adventurous deployability. The 45 cm ground clearance ensured that, with the special adjustable dampers, double struts and extra robust axles.

Mercedes wants to repeat the trick, but now with the second generation G-class. Although it still resembles its predecessor, it is a completely new car and so the new 4×4² also has to be tested from the beginning. The crazy adventurer last appeared last summer and, judging by these new spy photos, Mercedes is still not done with it. In itself it can’t hurt to try it out in the snow, as the 4×4² will undoubtedly experience this often in the coming years.

We carefully assume that Mercedes-Benz will once again hang the power source from the G500 in the 4×4², so a 422 hp 4.0 biturbo V8. It will probably be ready next spring and you can probably place an order for over €300,000, if this is really exactly what you need!
