Volkswagen shows Nivus

Volkswagen has a colored sticker sheet in its warehouse that likes to stick it on its yet to be revealed models. This time it is the stacked Nivus that is pasted with the psychedelic print.

Nivus. That is the name of a compact crossover that Volkswagen announced the arrival of some time ago. The newcomer is – how could it be otherwise – a compact crossover, but not just one. After all, Volkswagen already has a wide range of long-legged in its line-up and so a compact crossover might be too much of a good thing. No, the Nivus is a compact crossover with a more sloping roofline than usual, which means that the Nivus will be the brand’s first ‘coupé SUV’ in the compact class. At least in Europe.

The Nivus shares its version of the MQB platform with cars like the Polo and the T-Cross. Therefore, expect to encounter a range of well-known engines, including 1.0 TSIs and perhaps the 150 hp 1.5 TSI. The Nivus will roll off the line this year in Brazil, the country where the car was also first announced. Next year, the Nivus should also be for sale in our part of the world. Whether the crossover here will also be called Nivus remains to be seen.
