Just as expensive as strongest mild hybrid

Until now, you could only get the Nissan Qashqai with mild-hybrid powertrains. That will change. AutoWeek has won the prices of the Qashqai with the interesting e-Power drivetrain. The Qashqai e-Power is always electrically powered, but it is not an EV!
The current third generation of the Nissan Qashqai was presented with great fanfare in February 2021. Not so crazy. Given its previous sales success, the Qashqai is of great importance to Nissan. The Qashqai came on the scene with an innovative e-Power powertrain, but until now the SUV was only available with mild hybrid machines with outputs of 140 and 158 hp. The Nissan Qashqai will soon also be available in the Netherlands with the e-Power drivetrain. AutoWeek has the prices before Nissan announces it itself.
Nissan Qashqai e-Power
If we look at the regular versions, the Nissan Qashqai e-Power in the Netherlands has a starting price of €43,790. For that amount, the Qashqai with e-Power drivetrain is equipped as N-Connecta. It is also available as Tekna and Tekna Plus and costs respectively €45,890 and €49,490. This makes these versions exactly as expensive as the identically designed Nissan Qashqai with 158 hp mild-hybrid 1.3 with Xtronic automatic transmission.
Nissan also comes with special Business Design and Business Premium versions tailored to the business driver, although they are not yet on the Dutch price list. These cost respectively €41,190 and €43,740.
e-Power
Just like the Qashqai with the mild-hybrid 1.3s, the Qashqai e-Power also has a combustion engine on board. However, that is not a 140 or 158 hp 1.3, but a 158 hp and 250 Nm strong 1.5 three-cylinder. Nevertheless, the Qashqai e-Power is electrically powered in all cases, but it is not an EV. The 1.5 supplies power via a small 2-kWh battery pack to a 190 hp and 330 Nm electric motor mounted on the front axle. You will only get 1 or 2 kilometers on electric power alone. So you have the same direct power delivery as in a car with an electric powertrain. Above 10 km/h you can also accelerate or slow down the Qashqai e-Power with one pedal. So the ‘e-Pedal’, just like in the Leaf.
The Nissan Qashqai e-Power can reach 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, making it the fastest-sprinting variant of all available Qashqais. The top speed of 170 km/h is lower than that of its more conventional petrol brothers. The car weight is 1,587 kilos due to the e-Power hardware, more than 200 kilos above that of the Qashqai with 158 hp 1.3 and X-tronic automatic transmission. The e-Power drivetrain also eats up some luggage space. The Nissan Qashqai e-Power swallows 479 liters, the versions with mild-hybrid powertrains lust with 504 liters more stuff. The 1.5 petrol engine consumes an average of 5.3 l/100 km, which is less than the mild hybrids (6.2-6.5 l/100 km).
The 1.5 is in itself a special engine. It is a blown 1.5 that is a derivative of the 2.0 with variable compression that Nissan presented a few years ago. The car controls the control of the petrol engine all by itself, which means that the power source always runs at the most efficient speed. This naturally depresses consumption. In its home country of Japan, Nissan introduced the e-Power powertrain in 2016. Including the Note and the Serena.
