Alfa Romeo Alfasud Ti QV (1984) – Into the Wild

An Alfa Romeo Alfasud shone quite recently in ‘In the Wild’, but we can’t let this one pass you by. Here we see a real Alfasud Ti QV, the last sporty top version!

Less than a year ago there was already an Alfa Romeo Alfasud in the spotlight, but that was a regular 1.5 that would have loved to be a Ti. Now we have the real deal in front of us, thanks to AutoWeek forum member Quadrifoglio Verde. Stronger even; This is a Ti QV. With a username like that, we understand that Quadrifoglio Verde got very excited when he came across this copy.

An Alfa Romeo Alfasud is already a rarity in the Netherlands anyway, but you will certainly not encounter this top model again. After all, relatively few were built: the Ti QV appeared in 1982 as the spectacular swan song of the Alfasud. The then ten-year-old model was fitted with a 1.5 boxer engine, boosted to 105 hp and 133 Nm, at the last minute. Not only that, the ‘Sud’ was also sporty with special bumper work, double headlights, characteristic alloy wheels, a wooden steering wheel, sports seats and a rear spoiler.

Alfa Romeo Alfasud Ti QV

With such a relatively potent boxer engine and nice decoration, the Alfasud Ti QV appeals to the imagination of many Alfa Romeo enthusiasts. To own one yourself is another. The Alfasud was plagued by rust problems, especially in the beginning. This was partly due to the production location. The Alfasud got its name from the factory located quite south, which was close to the Mediterranean Sea. The salty air there, combined with poor handling of already substandard steel, meant that the Alfasud could suffer from rust from an early age.

So they often need some love to keep them on the road for a long time, but this Ti QV looks like it has been well taken care of. He has also been with the same owner for over eight years, so you can probably speak of true love. The date of first registration is also striking. This Alfasud was delivered to the first owner in September 1984. It is therefore probably one of the last Suds ever delivered.
