New speed limit neatly followed on average

It seems that we are fine with the new speed limit. Research shows that the average speed, even when it is quiet on the road, is slightly above the permitted speed.

A few months ago, the new speed limit of 100 km / h went into effect. During the day you should not drive faster anywhere. Between 7:00 PM. In the evening and 6:00 am. In the morning it is allowed to drive faster than 100 km / h where it was previously allowed. It seems that the new rules had little time to be learned. Research by the AD and EenVandaag shows that on average only slightly above the speed limit is driven.

Traffic on five busy highways (A2, A4, A12, A27, A28) was examined over a period of five weeks, and based on anonymous data from Flitsmeister, it can be concluded that after 6:00 am. in the morning an average of 104 km / h was driven. In the afternoon it would even drop to 100 km / h. Even in the hours that you can drive faster, everything is not too bad. After 7 pm. the speed goes on average to 114 km / h.

It is striking that the rest on the road on the highways does not lead to average speed driving. Earlier it appeared that during the corona time more than average driving licenses are collected for speeding. It therefore seems that there are exceptions, but on average, driving is done on Dutch roads.
