Nürburging open again to tourists, big crowds

The Nürburgring has reopened to tourists. Last weekend was allowed to drive on the Nordschleife again with own cars. It immediately led to great crowds.

Because of the corona measures, the Nürburgring was also forced to close the gates to the regular public. The famous Touristenfahrten were also no longer possible. Although there was still some test work on the circuit here and there, it was remarkably quiet for a while in ‘De Groene Hel’. That was different last weekend. From April 30, the circuit opened its doors again to tourists, who, according to various media, eagerly took the opportunity. There would have been a noticeable bustle, but in general the applicable rules were observed.

The circuit manager has put in place a number of rules to ensure that the Touristenfahrten run smoothly. In terms of corona, because on the track it still goes wrong sometimes. A maximum of two people can be seated in the car, tickets must be purchased online or via an app and the parking spaces around the circuit are closed. It’s in it, up and down the track. Although the reopening can naturally count on a lot of enthusiasm among sporty drivers, there is also criticism, according to RTL Nieuws. For example, some would consider it irresponsible to start racing now, while healthcare is already under pressure.
