According to a new rumor, Samsung is currently working hard to develop a smartphone that does not contain physical buttons. The smartphone itself is not yet in the making, but the software that will have to replace the buttons is. When can we expect a Samsung smartphone without buttons?
Been before, but too many problems
Okay first of all, this is certainly not the first time we hear about a smartphone without physical buttons. LG already registered a patent to make this possible, and Vivo even presented a concept smartphone without buttons. On this phone, Vivo curved the screen edges over the housing and used touch sensors to control the volume, among other things. Since then, at least until now, it hasn’t really taken off. With smartphone innovations nowadays you always have to ask yourself something: what problem does this solve? Removing the physical button still causes more problems than it solves at this point.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Series
However, according to a rumor spreader on Twitter, working on a smartphone without physical buttons. So think of a smartphone without an on/off button and without volume buttons. The problem of the lack of these buttons will have to be solved via touch sensors, among other things. The source further claims that this will not yet be applied to the upcoming S23 series from Samsung, but will only be admired from the S25 series. This is only in two and a half years, so this is really looking at coffee grounds.
That Samsung is working behind the scenes, however, is a fact, since the company has at least several patents that show designs without a physical button. So we’ll just wait patiently.
