The Porsche 911 restomods are flying around your ears. Now it is Theon Design that takes a 911 of the 964 generation to a new level for a customer thanks to the use of carbon fiber for the body and a thicker boxer engine.

The Porsche 911 is currently one of the most used cars for a restomod, a restoration in which everything is immediately adapted and modernized. Especially the 964 generation, which appeared in 1989, is often the direct object. The British Theon Design is now venturing into a 911 964. To start with, the 911 has been stripped and fitted with a new body, largely made of carbon fiber. In addition, the 911 has been given an appearance that is more reminiscent of the primal 911 than a 964, but then again with a fairly modern diffuser and even an active duck tailrear wing that lifts at higher speeds. The color, Viola Metallic, is a color that was available on the 30th Anniversary version of the 964.

The interior has also been clearly worked on. Although it is better to see here that a 964 served as the basis, it provides, among other things, purple leather upholstery with special stitching for a unique touch. Things also look a bit more classic than usual in the center tunnel and we see nice classic slides for the heater control. Incidentally, despite their classic-looking upholstery, the chairs are completely up to date again, because they are also largely made of carbon fiber.

The extensive use of the lightweight material means that the CHI001 christened creation weighs only 1,164 kg in roadworthy condition, roughly 300 kg less than what the 964 Carrera 4 weighed for the entire conversion process. In addition, in this case there is an atmospheric 400 hp 4.0 six-cylinder boxer engine in the back, so it has also become a bit stronger than the car that served as the basis. Things like adaptive independent and active damping and carbon ceramic braking ensure that the car is not only faster in a straight line than the original. Shifting is done via a manual six-speed gearbox, for which the transmission from the 993 served as the basis. All power now goes to the rear wheels, while the donor car still had four-wheel drive. Performance figures are not yet available, but you can bet that the CHI001 is spinning around much more modern 911s.

The Theon Design CHI001 is a unique restomod for a Chilean customer (hence also ‘CHI’ in the name). The price tag is not known as a courtesy, but Theon Design reports that its restomods cost at least 380,000 pounds (€431,000). swallow.
