The Vietnamese VinFast is almost ready to storm the European market with its electric SUVs. The first ‘store’ in the Netherlands will open this year.

VinFast has big plans worldwide. Here in Europe, too, the Vietnamese hope to grab a big slice of the sales pie. Last summer it already announced that a lot of ‘stores’ will be opened in our part of the world in the near future. There will be five VinFast dealers in the Netherlands. The first of these will open this year, the brand has announced car news at the Paris Motor Show.

The first VinFast Store opens its doors in Amsterdam, although it is not yet clear exactly where in the capital. This will be VinFast’s flagship store in our country. Four more dealers in other locations will follow later. Not only that: VinFast is opening three head offices (apparently you can have more than one) in Western Europe. One of these will also be in Amsterdam, the other two in Berlin and Paris. According to VinFast, it is wise to open several head offices, in order to better coordinate activities with the local market from there.

VinFast VF 8

VinFast enters the European market with the VF8 and VF9 pictured above. Two electric SUVs that we could also sniff at in Vietnam earlier this year. Extensive technical information and provisional prices were already released at that time. Those prices were not yet completely complete, because the costs for battery rental were added. It is not possible to buy the batteries. Prices have increased slightly in the meantime: the VF8 is available (excluding battery rental) from €46,450 and then you have the 383 hp version with a WLTP range of 420 km. The VF9 is available from €63,250 with 408 horsepower and a range of 438 km. The battery rental costs you with the VF8 (at least 82 kWh) €120 per month, with the VF9 (at least 92 kWh) it comes to €150 per month.
