Electric Maserati GranTurismo comes 450 km away

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore, as the fully electric version of Maserati’s new sports coupe is called, has a maximum driving range of 450 km on the WLTP cycle. The car, both as an EV and with a combustion engine, is always four-wheel drive. This is evident from reports by British media who were already allowed to drive the car.

The upcoming electric Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will reach 450 km on the WLTP cycle. That writes the British Autocar based on sources at Maserati. To achieve that value, the car uses a battery pack with a net capacity of 83 kWh, which can be fully charged with a fast charger thanks to 800V on-board voltage with up to 270 kW. The car will be on the market in the second half of 2023, shortly after the versions with Maserati’s Nettuno called V6. They get a 490 (as Modena) or 550 hp (as Trofeo) strong petrol engine in their long noses and will be on the market next spring.

Incidentally, there is another news to report about the GranTurismo: it is always four-wheel drive, the British branch of Top Gear reports. Remarkable in itself, because the previous GranTurismo – which, with its atmospheric V8, was heavier than the new one with blown V6 and therefore four-wheel drive – was only available as a rear-wheel drive. Those who think back wistfully to that previous model might do better to opt for the electric Folgore with the next one. Maserati now says that it is a sound generator on board, which must provide a sound both outside and inside that is somewhere between that of electric motors and that of the old V8.

It is not yet known what the car will cost in the Netherlands. In the UK, the 761bhp Folgore costs about £50,000 more than the most powerful petrol version, although the ratio is undoubtedly different here thanks to the bpm. We expect to be able to report the actual prices soon.

Spyshots Maserati GranCabrio

In the fall of 2023, Maserati will also introduce a new GranCabrio.
