Synology introduces the new compact Synology DiskStation DS723+ with 2 bays. This NAS is the smallest expandable device in Synology’s series of all-in-one solutions for home offices and small businesses.
The new 2-bay Synology DiskStation DS723+ will be available from January 13. Powered by the versatile Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, DS723+ offers comprehensive solutions to protect and manage corporate data, easily collaborate on documents, remotely access files, and monitor physical assets – all in a compact package. If you want more slots, for example 4 bays, the Synology DS923+ is available. Look for all specifications at the bottom of this article.
Storage platform with expansion options
The 2-bay DS723+ is great for small team collaboration and small businesses interested in centralized storage. When more capacity is needed, the device can scale up to 7 slots with a DX517 expansion unit. Users can upgrade performance even further with the option to add 10GbE connectivity and M.2 NVMe SSD drives through the built-in PCIe slot. This offers possibilities for fast caching or to create additional all-flash storage pools.
Local storage with cloud integration
DS723+ offers intuitive file management and sharing capabilities with Synology Drive, which combines cross-platform file access with the privacy of local storage. For remote teams and companies with multiple locations, file synchronization between locations is also possible to mirror content between Synology devices.
Synology Hybrid Share lets users enjoy the hybrid cloud: The benefits of local storage and cloud storage go hand in hand by keeping infrequently used data (so-called “cold data”) in the cloud, while frequently used files are cached on the local device for access at LAN speeds.
Backup Center for multi-layered data protection
Windows and Linux systems, Hyper-V or VMware virtual machines, and Microsoft 365/Google Workspace accounts can be backed up to DS723+ with Synology’s Active Backup Suite. This way you protect essential and sensitive data against ransomware and other cyber threats.
For a higher level of protection, users can also create backups and point-in-time snapshots of the data stored on the NAS, after which it can be secured off-site or in the cloud.
Versatile and intuitive monitoring solutiong
With support for more than 8,300 validated IP cameras and ONVIF devices, the powerful Synology Surveillance Station can turn DS723+ into a full-fledged video management system that keeps video securely on site.
Users can quickly set up and manage up to 40 cameras through a modern and customizable interface, and even add floor maps or Google Maps/Open StreetMap maps for monitoring larger buildings or building complexes. Simple and effective failover between recording servers, management of multiple devices, and the option to simultaneously record video to the Synology C2 cloud all increase system resiliency and availability of important recordings.
