Lightyear wears out 10,000 Lightyears in one fell swoop

The Dutch Lightyear has landed a mega order. Leasing company Arval has placed an order for no fewer than 10,000 units of the yet-to-be-revealed Lightyear 2.

Lightyear has received a new mega order. Leasing company Arval has placed a pre-order of not a few hundred or a few thousand units, but no less than 10,000 units of the Lightyear 2. Earlier, LeasePlan and MyWheels, among others, already placed a large pre-order for the Lightyear 2. In total, companies already have more than 21,000 Lightyear 2 units on order. These more than 20,000 copies already generate a turnover of €840 million for Lightyear.

The Lightyear 2, as its name implies, will be Lightyear’s second production model. The Lightyear 2 should be a lot more accessible from a price point of view than the €250,000 Lightyear One. Lightyear indicates that the Lightyear 2 will cost less than €40,000. Just like the Lightyear One, the Lightyear 2 will have solar cells on its roof. The Dutch manufacturer already speaks of an electric range of up to 800 kilometers.
