A lake in the stress test

The water quality of Lake Constance used to suffer from a high phosphorus content. A low oxygen level is now to be feared because of global warming.

In the past it was the massive growth of algae, today it is the proliferation of the stickleback and the invasion of the quagga mussel: Lake Constance always has new challenges to master. In the Seewandel project, limnologists are investigating whether and how it can cope with the changed environmental conditions.
