Abt gives plug-in hybrids more power

The German tuner Abt has the solution for those who are not satisfied with the power of its plug-in hybrid car from the Volkswagen Group with a 1.4 TSI as combustion engine. Abt is happy to increase the power of the 150 hp petrol engine.

Anyone who goes shopping for a plug-in hybrid model at the Volkswagen Group will probably come home with a plug-in in which the combustion engine is the well-known 1.4 TSI. That machine is in the Cupra Formentor eHybrid, in the Golf eHybrid GTE, in the Audi A3 40 TFSIe and in cars like the Seat Tarraco PHEV and Leon PHEV. The 1.4 delivers basically 150 hp and 250 Nm, but thanks to Abt’s involvement, it can now also be pumped up to 180 hp.

After the Abt treatment, the 1.4 TSI not only delivers more horsepower, but the torque also increases from 250 Nm to 290 Nm. It provides the normally 245 hp plug-in hybrid powertrains with a system power of 275 hp and 440 Nm.

The brands of the Volkswagen Group also have models with a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a system output of 204 hp on the roll. Also for cars such as the Skoda Superb iV and Volkswagen Passat GTE, in which the 1.4 TSI delivers 156 hp in the base, the petrol engine is pumped up to 180 hp. The system power of these cars increases from 218 hp and 400 Nm to 234 hp and 440 Nm.
