Activating Clip Studio Paint on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8: this is how it works

Clip Studio Paint for Galaxy Tablets

Samsung works together with the makers of Clip Studio Paint for its tablets. That is a very extensive drawing app that comes with extra options especially for the Galaxy Tab S8 series. You can use your Tab S8 as a canvas to draw on with the S Pen. You can also use your Galaxy smartphone as a digital color palette.

Activate Clip Studio Paint trial period

First of all, as a new Tab S8 user, you can try Clip Studio Paint for free for six months. You can activate the trial period when you open the app for the first time. You will immediately see the button Sign up to get your first 6 months free† Press that and then Get started and Start† Don’t see the notification of the trial period? Then try to clear the cache of the app. You will see the same intro again when opening the app.

After the trial period you can use the app for one hour a day for free, or choose one of the subscriptions†

Activating Clip Studio Paint on the Galaxy tablet

Pair Clip Studio Paint Companion App

Now it’s time to companion app from Clip Studio to the tablet. That is the app on your Galaxy smartphone that you can then use as a color palette.

1. Install latest version

First of all, make sure you have the latest version installed, both on your smartphone and on the tablet. Press the button below to see if an update for the app is available.

Note: make sure you Clip Studio Paint for Galaxy on your phone and not the regular Clip Studio Paint app

2. Pair Companion App

Launch Clip Studio Paint on your Galaxy Tab tablet and phone. Tap on Connect to smartphone in the command bar to display a QR code.

Then start Clip Studio Paint on your smartphone. Then tap the same button in the top bar.

Now a QR code will appear on the Galaxy Tab tablet. You scan it with your phone via the button Scan QR code in the Clip Studio Paint app. Click on the link that appears and Clip Studio Paint on your smartphone will switch to Companion mode. The app then connects to the Clip Studio Paint app on the Galaxy Tab device.

You can now start creating your most beautiful works of art. You can use Companion Mode for as long as you want, even if you’re using the free version (one hour a day) of Clip Studio Paint on your smartphone. However, if you switch to Companion Mode while the canvas is displayed, the time you spend in Companion Mode will count as part of your free usage time. Good luck with drawing!
