Acura hints new TLX

The brand new Acura TLX will be shown to the world in a week. That let the luxury brand of Honda know. The rear of the sedan is already visible, although the car also has few surprises in store.

Those in the market for an Acura TLX really have to cross the big pond to North America, but that certainly does not make the car irrelevant to us. The eighth generation of the Honda Accord (the last one that was still sold here in the Netherlands) and the Acura TSX were twins. The TSX was in turn succeeded by the TLX. The TLX therefore has an ancestor known to us and it is all the more interesting if an entirely new generation is ready for this Acura. Acura announces that it will draw the curtain of the brand new TLX on Thursday 28 May.

In a teaser video in which the big news is announced, Acura already shows the back of the new TLX. It looks significantly less Asian than that of the current, already six-year-old TLX. In fact, for a car intended for North America it even has quite a European appearance. If you see some Opel Insignia in it, we are definitely not kidding you. In any case, it is clear that Acura has used its own Type S Concept of 2019 as a source of inspiration. Fortunately, if you want to get an idea of how the car will look like in its entirety, you can already take a look at the patent drawings that surfaced earlier this month. If that leads to enthusiasm, we unfortunately have a disappointing message: we should not expect a European variant (again like Honda Accord for example).
