Hotel room on wheels
Aren’t you afraid to sink into the earth’s mantle in your electric SUV of over 4,000 kilos in the mud? Then this motorhome based on the electric GMC Hummer might be your ideal holiday car!
It’s been three years since General Motors dusted off the Hummer name and stuck it on a colossal electric SUV with a dizzying car weight. We are of course talking about the GMC Hummer, a 5 meter long SUV that is also available as a 5.5 meter long pick-up and that weighs at least 4,100 kilograms in its already known form. A great basis for a camper. At least, that’s what the American company EarthCruiser claims.
EarthCruiser turns the 5.51 meter long GMC Hummer Pick-up into a camper van. This basically does not make the colossus already more than 4 tons lighter, although EarthCruiser does not indicate what the heavy EV will weigh after its metamorphosis. The fact that EarthCruiser has at least kept an eye on the weight is evident from the fact that the superstructure is made entirely of carbon fiber. The GMC Hummer Pickup EarthCruiser has roof tent, solar panels, a full size bed for two people, a shower installation, various storage compartments and even a kitchenette with sink, refrigerator and induction hob on board.
The EarthCruiser is based on the GMC Hummer with a 212.7 kWh battery. That variant has two electric motors with 1,000 horsepower together and should give the colossus an electric range of about 530 kilometers. Do you see yourself camping adventurously with this colossus?
