We meet Johan at Shell Recharge along the A7 in the head of North Holland. He is on his way to Leeuwarden and has a cup of coffee. And in the time that you drink your coffee, you recharge a lot of ‘kilometers’. When we drive over the Afsluitdijk a little later, he says: “I have just charged for half an hour and now the batteries are practically full again. After two hours in the car I thought it was nice to grab a cup of coffee, make a phone call and stretch my legs. I always combine that with fast charging. ” Johan has a Peugeot e-2008 and it can charge a maximum of 5 km per minute. “Many electric cars can charge much faster than this Peugeot, so they are on an 80 percent full battery within 20 minutes.”

After his appointment in the heart of Leeuwarden, Johan gets back in his car to set off for his next destination. A long way in the other direction, because from Leeuwarden he has to go to Den Bosch. A distance that his electric Peugeot can cover on its own, but he will still put it on the charger on the way. At Shell Recharge in Apeldoorn-Noord, he can combine it nicely with an afternoon break with a fresh sandwich and a cappuccino.

“The first time I came to a fast charger, I was also surprised. Which plug should I have? Once you know, you will never doubt again. Like almost all electric cars with a fast charging function, this car has a so-called CCS connection. And if you’re in doubt, it’s okay either, because in the end only one will fit. You do not have to use your own charging cable with a fast charger. It is only suitable for normal home charging or a public charging station. ”
Shell Recharge App
You don’t have to bring your fuel card with you to charge with Shell Recharge. You can use the special Recharge App to start and stop charging and to pay. Moreover, you can easily find charging stations and posts with it. Not only from Shell, but also from other providers.
“I’m not even that much of a tech enthusiast, but I find that app super practical. Via the Shell Recharge app I can start charging if you use the Shell Recharge charge card. You enter your data once, link your charge card to the app and select the correct charger. If you have given permission, the loading will start and it will stop when you want it. You can also see the charging history. You can also charge without an app, of course, you pay on the terminal with the charge card you have to activate all types of charging points. ”
No time wasted
After lunch Johan drives to Den Bosch and at the end of the day he drives home again. “Today I drove more than 500 km with my electric car and I don’t feel that I lost time charging. If you are a little bit smart, you charge the battery when you have a break yourself. ”
