Some people come to the counter at the garage and say “My car just got a new MOT, so it will need little maintenance.” That would of course be nice, but that kite does not work. Although an MOT and maintenance are often carried out simultaneously, they are different things. An MOT says something about safety and the environment and is imposed by the government. Maintenance is intended to extend the life of the car.

What then happens during a service?
The basis is always changing the oil and replacing the oil filter. Terms such as major and minor maintenance have actually disappeared: every car has its own maintenance schedule that prescribes what should be done at a specific age or mileage. Then you have to think of things like brake fluid, an air filter, windshield wipers or an interior filter, but also less obvious things, such as the battery of the remote control. Good maintenance is important, especially in the first years to maintain the manufacturer’s warranty. This only remains in effect if a car has been maintained according to the specifications of the factory. This is allowed at the dealer, but is also possible at a Bosch Car Service. The maintenance booklet of the car is important in this regard. Not only can the garage keep track of what has been done, you can also see for yourself what needs to be done. An important part is, for example, replacing the timing belt. That really has to be done on time, because if it breaks, you will always lose a lot of money to have your car repaired. You can also arrange breakdown assistance insurance at the same time as servicing your car. Because of course something can always break, and then it is nice if you can be helped on the spot.
