This week Apple announced the new AirPods 3. That also means good news for the previous generation AirPods, because they have become cheaper.
AirPods 2 cheaper
Apart from the new design, the third-generation AirPods look a lot like the AirPods 2 from 2019. There are no spectacular innovations, which means that the AirPods 2 are still interesting for many people.
Especially now that the AirPods 2 have been reduced in price. Previously, the non-wireless rechargeable variant cost 179 euros in the Apple Store. Now the price has dropped to 149 euros. That’s a lot less than the brand new AirPods 3, which are priced at 199 euros.
If you order the AirPods 2 elsewhere than at Apple, you are often even cheaper. At the time of writing, they are the cheapest at Telefoonwereld, where they cost 127 euros. They are also much cheaper at Belsimpel.nl and Mobiel.nl than at the Apple Store.

Differences AirPods 3 and AirPods 2
As mentioned, the differences between the AirPods 3 and AirPods 2 are quite small. An important improvement of the AirPods 3 is the battery life: with a battery charge you can enjoy music for six hours, instead of five. The charging box also has more energy: it provides 30 hours of listening time. With the AirPods 2, that is 24 hours.
Other differences are that the AirPods 3 are sweat and water resistant. They also support spatial audio and there is a pressure sensor. The design also differs, because with the third generation AirPods 3 the stems are shorter.
