The AirPods Pro 2 as a gift for the holidays? Apple has production problems, which increases the delivery time. iPhoned explains why.
Supplier has production problems
Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple supply chain analyst, found that Apple has ordered one of the two AirPods suppliers to halt production of a “smart acoustic product.” According to Kuo, this product is the AirPods Pro 2.
According to the analyst, it is not the demand for the product that is the reason that Apple is suspending production, but production problems at Goertek (the supplier) are the cause. Due to these production issues, fewer AirPods Pro 2 models can be produced, which could become a problem with the approaching holiday season. Due to the high demand, the delivery time of the AirPods Pro 2 can now increase quickly.
20 million pairs of AirPods Pro 2
Despite these manufacturing issues, Kuo expects Apple to sell 20 million pairs of AirPods Pro 2 during the holiday season. According to the analyst, there are currently enough AirPods Pro 2 available, but the delivery time may increase quickly due to production problems. If you want to gift these AirPods for the holidays, it’s a smart plan to order them quickly.
AirPods Pro 2: new case and volume control
Apple officially announced the AirPods Pro 2 at its September event earlier this year. The AirPods are very similar in appearance to the first generation AirPods Pro, but have received a number of upgrades in terms of content. For example, the AirPods Pro 2 have volume control, with which you can now adjust the volume of your music by swiping your fingers over the stem.
