The AirTag is already a few years old, so when will the AirTag 2 actually come? And what new functions will the tracker have? We put it in a row.
Air Tag 2
The Apple AirTag is one of the few truly new products that Apple has released in recent years, and it really is a godsend. That one bunch of keys you left lying around, your piece of luggage that got lost through Schiphol, your bicycle that was taken: you can easily find them again with the small tracker.
But the AirTag is already a few years old: after all, it was announced in April 2021. That does not necessarily mean that there must be a new one – but we do have some other reasons why we want to see a new AirTag. Because a rechargeable battery instead of a battery, a loop to attach it to something, or a better U-chip so that you can find the AirTag more easily: yes please! And those are precisely the features that are rumored to be coming to the AirTag 2.
Where is the AirTag 2?
But where is that AirTag 2? It will probably not be released until the first half of 2025. This is what Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said on X. Kuo initially expected a release at the end of 2024. It is not known exactly what caused the delay.
In any case, the AirTag 2 is on its way. But if you don’t want to lose your valuables before 2025, it is better to invest in the current AirTag. Here you will find the best price:
