The Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT would last no less than 13 years with different names and a refined appearance. About halfway through that period, this copy rolled off the line. Since then, time seems to have stood still.
This is because we have an Alfa Romeo GTV6 2.5 from 1981 in front of us which – judging by the photos – is still in mint condition. For that reason alone, it deserves a place in the spotlight. The secretly 40-year-old Alfa is of course also helped by the successful design of Giugiaro. Not quite the original design anymore, because on the threshold of the 80s the GT went back to the drawing board. It came from there with some exterior changes, such as thicker and more angular bumpers and accents where the chrome had given way to dark plastic.
Also new was the GTV6 2.5, introduced shortly after the facelift, which we have in front of us here thanks to AutoWeek forummer A Brandhorst. That was the top version for some time, until the GTV6 3.0 appeared in 1984. However, the GTV6 2.5 has appeared on the market in much larger numbers. With its 160 hp V6, originating from the Alfa Romeo 6, the GTV6 was particularly smooth for its time. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h was already done in 8.3 seconds and you could just surpass the 200 km/h. Even by modern standards this is not surprising at all. The GTV6 in the photos has been able to satisfy its current owner for at least 13 years now. It has a brand new MOT, so this Italian beauty is ready for more!
