Now really from Alfa Romeo itself

Alfa Romeo may come with an electrically powered coupe in about three years. For its design, it looks at a model that caused quite a stir in its time: the SZ.
It seemed for a while that Alfa Romeo would come up with a special coupe this year, but in the end it turned out to be a limited tribute from Zagato. That coupé christened Giulia SWB Zagato was not only a tribute to Zagato’s hundred-year relationship with Alfa Romeo, but also to the SZ. Zagato breathed new life into elements of the SZ on the shortened Giulia base in its own way, but (fortunately for those who don’t like the SZ at all) that creation did not really look like it.

It now appears: Alfa Romeo itself may also be working with a coupe with SZ influences. It could possibly appear in a year or three. That tells Alfa Romeo designer Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos Coach. “It’s a brutal design, but such a special impactful design that we have to emulate it if we can,” said the 55-year-old Spaniard of the SZ. He admits that it wasn’t necessarily Alfa Romeo’s most graceful design: “It wasn’t a pretty car, we all know that, but we can draw a lot from its distinctiveness in designing a coupe for the electric age.”
The arrival is certainly not yet certain, but there is something bubbling in Italy. Would you like to see an electric coupé with SZ influences appear, or is Alfa Romeo better looking at another historic model for inspiration? Let me know in the comments.
