Are you going to Italy on holiday and do you think the Alfa Romeo Tonale is a beautiful appearance? Pay extra attention during your vacation days. The Carabinieri will soon also be driving around in that SUV.
The Italian military police is expanding its fleet with no less than 400 Alfa Romeos Tonale. The first of these was handed over this week. Has the Carabinieri ordered the Tonalein its most potent form? No. But not in the least powerful version either. The Carabinieri-Tonales are 163 hp strong hybrid versions.
The 400 Tonales don’t leave the police academy all at once. Alfa Romeo will deliver the remaining hundreds of Tonales between July and the end of next year. The first series of Tonales in Carabinieri suit are deployed across Italy in support of the 200 hp Alfa’s Giulia which is regarded as the gazelleswithin the Carabinieri fleet. It is the first time that part of the Carabinieri fleet will consist of a compact mid-class SUV. From the outside you can recognize the officer-Tonales by their blue paint, red and white stickers and the white roof. The Tonales are lightly armored and have a single ‘cell’ where captives can be housed very temporarily. Of course, an LED bar on the roof is also part of the Carabinieri work suit.
