Alfa Romeo will come with 8C or GTV-like in 2023

Will there still be a new sporty Alfa Romeo in the style of the 8C or a new GTV? It seemed that Alfa Romeo no longer listened to this, but according to CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato there will be a brand new sporty model next year.

In 2018 Alfa Romeo announced a whole series of new models in one fell swoop. For example, Alfa Romeo spoke of the arrival of an all-new GTV, a coupé with a 50:50 weight distribution and a more than 600 hp powertrain. Even the 8C would get a successor, and not just any one. The announced new 8C would have a carbon fiber chassis and a more than 700 horsepower drivetrain, complete with a combustion engine with two turbos hung behind the front seats. About a year and a half later, the 8C and GTV were already parked in the refrigerator. Alfa Romeo mainly focused on EVs and crossovers. Alfa Romeo wanted SUVs in the medium and compact segment. The first one is here: the Tonale. The second, which may be called Brennero, is planned for 2024. Alfa Romeo recently indicated that it would present a new model every year until 2026, but what the brand has planned for 2023 was still unclear. Until now.

In an interview with the British Autocar, none other than Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato says that Alfa Romeo will introduce a sporty model in the first half of 2023 in the style of the announced GTV and 8C. So it seems to be a coupe with a decent mountain of power. Imparato indicates that it is not yet certain whether it will be a fully electric model or a car with only a petrol engine. That already indicates that a plug-in hybrid powertrain is not being considered. In addition, the new sporty Alfa would get design elements from the T33 Stradale from the sixties. That classic Italian had a mid-engine, which suggests that Alfa Romeo, in particular, is once again embracing the concept of the new 8C announced in 2018.

According to Imparato, the car is “[…] very exciting, very exclusive and very expensive”. Incidentally, at the beginning of next year it will not be a ready-made production model, but a concept car or perhaps a design sketch. something tasty is the simmer seems to be fixed.
