Also in Amsterdam you can now exchange an empty battery of your Nio for a full one

Do you drive an electric Nio and live in the Amsterdam area? Then we have good news. From now on you can also exchange an empty battery pack for a fully charged one closer to home.

Just over a year after Nio opened its first battery swap station in the Netherlands in early December 2022, the Chinese manufacturer is setting up its ninth so-called Power Swap Station in our country. You could exchange your empty Nio battery for a full one in Apeldoorn, Arnhem, Den Hoorn (ZH), Dordrecht, Harmelen, Maastricht, Tilburg and Utrecht, and from now on this is also possible in Amsterdam.

The ninth Nio Power Swap Station is located on the Sijsjesbergweg in Amsterdam South-East and is close to the A2 and A9. After the one in Maastricht, Nio’s ninth battery swap station is the second Dutch Power Swap Station of what Nio refers to as the 3.0 generation. Battery packs can be exchanged more quickly at this type of battery exchange stations. An empty battery pack can be exchanged for a full one in about three minutes. In addition, the station has space for the storage of 21 battery packs, where previous Power Swap Stations could store up to 13.

There are now 33 Power Swap Stations in Europe. The manufacturer already has more than 2,000 switching stations in use worldwide. Last year, Nio communicated its intention to have 120 Power Swap Stations in Europe by 2023. The brand does not seem to be achieving that goal. According to our registration figures, there are 276 Nios on the road in the Netherlands. This means that there is currently a Power Swap Station for every 31 Nios.
