Apple is working on the completely new homepad, but according to rumors the device is delayed. You should know this about Apple’s next release.
Apple works on HomePad
The rumors have been working for some time that Apple is working on a new product that the HomePod has to combine with the iPad. According to the usually reliable Apple connoisseur Mark Gurman, this ‘HomePad’ was planned for March, but the release of the product was delayed. That has to do with the new version of Siri, which appears much later than before. An Apple spokesperson has now confirmed that the company needs more time to further develop Siri.
The next version of Siri was already announced on the WWDC 2024. The voice assistant becomes much smarter due to the integration of advanced language models. For example, Siri will understand (personal) circumstances better and several tasks can be performed in succession. The Homepad is mainly operated through voice commands, so the release of the Homepad depends on the moment the renewed version of Siri comes out.
Release later in 2025
It is still unclear when the Homepad will appear. An Apple spokesperson has indicated that the new functions of Siri will be rolled out somewhere in the coming year. The precise release is therefore unknown, it seems that Apple releases the improved version of Siri somewhere in 2025 or even early 2026. This means that the Homepad is greatly delayed and may not be brought to the market until the end of this year.
Gurman expects the Homepad only to appear when the renewed version of Siri has been rolled out. Only with the new generation of Siri can the voice assistant switch between different apps, which becomes important for the Homepad. The new device must become the center of your smart house, with which you can operate devices such as smart lamps, curtains and robot vacuum cleaners. That happens through Siri, but then the voting assistant has to work properly.

Now that Siri is delayed, the release of the Homepad seems to take much longer. It is expected that the device will run on the A18 chip, which offers support for Apple Intelligence. In addition to the renewed version of Siri, all new AI functions will also come to the Homepad. Other functions of the Homepad are a FaceTime camera, a 7-inch screen with standby mode and support for almost all Apple apps.
The Homepad is said to run on a new operating system, because Apple is currently developing homeos. It is not yet clear how the screen is attached to the speaker.
