Ambitious: Mullen MX 05

The American Mullen Technologies has presented an electric crossover that it wants to bring to market in 2022 thanks to a substantial capital injection.

At the beginning of last year, Mullen Technologies, a California-based start-up that showed the Dragonfly K50 at the New York International Auto Show, first caught up with it. That K50 is an electric coupe from the Chinese manufacturer Qiantu, but of course Mullen Technologies will never sell large numbers of it. Much more interesting is this MX 05, an electric crossover that should go into production in a relatively short time.

The MX 05 is an electric SUV that gets a battery pack with a capacity of no less than 100 kWh in its bottom. With this, the MX 05 – the name may cause some annoyance at Mazda – should be able to reach more than 480 kilometers. A sprint from a standstill to 60 mph (97 km / h) is over in 2.9 seconds. Mullen promises that the battery pack can be charged to 50 percent in 30 minutes, although the company does not release much information about the car. Mullen does say that it bases its models on ‘already existing cars’. It is not inconceivable that the MX 05 derives its platform from the Chinese manufacturer Qiantu.

Mullen Technologies wants to market the MX 05 as early as 2022. Thanks to a $ 135 million loan, the American manufacturer, together with its partners, says it will be able to set up a factory. In addition, the company is announcing a merger with Net Element, a listed company that specializes, among other things, in mobile financial transactions.
