The second beta version of Android 12L is ready, which is an upcoming update with improvements for tablets and phones with a folding screen. It is an important step in the development because developers now have all the APIs to customize their apps.
Android 12L beta 2
In October last year it was announced that the Android 12 update is not coming alone. The release of Android 12 L, a series of improvements for tablets, Chromebooks and foldables, is planned for the spring of 2022. The intention of the update is that the Android interface and apps handle extra screen space in a smarter way. In addition, there are also a number of improvements for ‘normal’ smartphones.
You can read it in the articles below, but also look at the images below that Google already shared:

New in beta 2
After the first beta rolled out to Pixels in December, the second beta comes just in time. With this update, new animations, minor interface changes and a few features have been added.
Google is adding more rounded corners, for example with ‘App pairs’, i.e. two apps that open together on one screen. When you watch a video in Picture-in-Picture mode and open another app, you can now use a split-screen view. The video will then appear at the bottom and the other app will appear at the top, you know that 9To5Google. Furthermore, you can now choose between a small and large clock on the lock screen of Android 12L. Some users were disturbed by the large clock of Android 12.

Still, the most important thing about the second beta version is that Google now has all the APIs ready and developers can start working with them. By the APIs we mean the new systems with which apps and the Android interface are better adapted for large screens. Developers need to make their apps work with these APIs and now have the time to fix bugs.
