SsangYong is no more, but the logo and its heritage lives on under the wings of KG Mobility. It just doesn’t seem like that name will be on the cars.
The South Korean SsangYong was almost snatched from the edge of the abyss by the compatriots of KG Group. Because of this rescue operation, the name SsangYong was dropped and the name KG Mobility was created. For several months we have therefore been talking about the KG Mobility Tivoli and KG Mobility Torres, for example. That just doesn’t sound very good, apparently they also think at KG Mobility.
According to AutoExpress it has therefore been decided, after consultation with customers and experts, to simply name the place KGM. It means the same, only KGM is slightly shorter than KG Mobility and looks more like the name of a car brand. Consider, for example, other three-letter brand names that are actually an abbreviation, such as BMW and BYD.
The well-known SsangYong logo still adorns the facelifted Tivoli.
The logo does not have to be changed, because it remains the same as that of SsangYong. We saw that recently on the facelifted Tivoli. The KGM Tivoli, it seems. AutoWeek is still awaiting confirmation from the importer. Reportedly, KGM would continue to operate under the flag of KG Mobility in its home country of South Korea.
