Classic cars that are equipped with electric drive, we see it more and more. The classic Mini also seems to be a popular victim for this and Swindon Powertrain is now responding to this.
The British company has developed an electric motor for use in classic Minis. Which means; a motorcycle that must be perfectly integrated into the engine compartment of the cheerful little Brit. That is the case; the engine comes complete with a subframe around it. The whole must therefore be easy to attach in the engine compartment, regardless of what type of classic Mini you have. Of course you are not there yet, but it makes a difference that no further customization is needed in that area. According to Swindon, the motor is fairly easy to connect to the driveshaft and special bolts are included to secure things firmly in the nose of the Mini.
The 70 kilo engine delivers 109 hp and is even capable of delivering a peak power of 163.5 hp. We can only imagine that it turns a classic Mini into a very fast car. Of course you are not there with the engine alone, but Swindon also supplies items such as a battery pack with a capacity of 12 kWh and charging systems separately. Anyone who only buys the motorbike will lose just under € 10,000 converted. So there are other things in addition. It is a precious story, but according to Swindon, 500 people are already interested in the bike, the lion’s share of which is Mini-owner.
