Apple adjusts website – this is when CarPlay 2.0 comes

A new version of CarPlay is coming and Apple’s website has now been adjusted. This is when Apple releases CarPlay 2.0!

New generation of CarPlay is coming

It has been known for some time that there will be a new generation of CarPlay, because Apple announced in June last year that CarPlay will have a completely new interface. CarPlay 2.0 is a major expansion of the first generation and takes over almost all screens of your car. With the updated version of the operating system, it is finally possible to operate functions of the car itself.

This makes CarPlay much better integrated into the car. Standard settings such as the radio, temperature and air conditioning can be controlled with CarPlay 2.0 via Apple’s operating system. These functions are not yet connected to CarPlay, but that will change with the new generation. Apple has not yet given a precise date for the release of CarPlay 2.0, but is now providing a little more clarity.

This is when CarPlay 2.0 comes

Apple announced CarPlay 2.0 back in June 2022, but never mentioned a date when the new version of the operating system will be released. That is still not the case, but Apple’s website has been adjusted. On the CarPlay page, the company writes that announcements will be made at the end of 2023 about the vehicles that work with the new version of the operating system.

It is quite possible that Apple will then reveal when CarPlay 2.0 will be released and which cars will receive support for the new software. It is expected that Apple will first present the final version of CarPlay 2.0. The update for the new generation will probably be released shortly afterwards. Good news, because in a few months the new generation of CarPlay will finally be released!

Not all cars support CarPlay 2.0

Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean that everyone will get CarPlay 2.0, because not all cars have support for the latest version of the operating system. A large number of well-known car brands have already announced that they support the new version of CarPlay. Brands such as Ford, Renault and Volvo have already indicated that they will collaborate with Apple for the new generation of CarPlay.

There are also car brands that do not intend to allow CarPlay 2.0. For example, BMW has already indicated that it does not plan to install the new generation of CarPlay, because the operating system must then have access to all the car’s data.
