Another update will soon come to your iPhone, because Apple is working on iOS 18.1. This is the expected release date of the latest iOS version!
Apple releases iOS 18.1
Apple released iOS 18 at the beginning of September, so that means it’s time for the next software update. iOS 18.1 will be released this month, bringing several new features to your iPhone. The Control Panel gets new controls, which make it easier to manage the device’s connectivity. There will be separate buttons for WiFi and VPN, so that you are no longer dependent on the menu with all network and Bluetooth settings.
In addition, the new camera control of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will receive more functions once Apple releases iOS 18.1. With these devices, the camera also gets a new feature, because after installing the update it is possible to take spatial photos. This camera function is also coming to the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. You can later view spatial photos (and videos) with depth on the Vision Pro or other VR glasses.
iOS 18.1 will be released soon
The usually reliable Apple analyst Mark Gurman has revealed when iOS 18.1 is likely to be released. According to him, you can run iOS 18.1 Monday October 28 install. The update will come later than expected, which is probably due to the servers on which all new Apple Intelligence tasks must be processed. These will have to handle a lot more traffic after the release of all AI features, so Apple should be well prepared for that.
Apple usually releases updates in the evening, most likely iOS 18.1 from 7 p.m to be installed on October 28. So keep a close eye on your iPhone, because the latest iOS version will automatically appear under ‘Settings > General > Software update’. Enable ‘Automatic updates’ now, so that you can be sure that iOS 18.1 will be installed as soon as the software is available.
No Apple Intelligence yet
For users outside the European Union, iOS 18.1 is a very major update, because iPhones there receive the first features of Apple Intelligence. The Wiring Tools are available from iOS 18.1, with which texts are rewritten and summarized. Siri gets the new interface with the update, but will only be expanded with new language models with iOS 18.2. Unfortunately, we have to do without Apple Intelligence in the Netherlands and Belgium for the time being. The technology will probably not be available here until next year.
In addition to iOS 18.1, Apple will likely release more updates on October 28. iPadOS 18.1, watchOS 11.1 and a new version of macOS Sequoia will also be released that day. It is an important update, especially for the iPad Pro 2024, because a number of models no longer worked after installing iPadOS 18. Do you want to know more about that?
