Apple cards and waze, two apps that do about the same and yet different – we put them side by side for a comparison.
Apple cards vs Waze
We have previously compared Waze with Google Maps and Google Maps with TomTom GPS, but not yet Apple cards with Waze. It is high time to put these apps next to each other!
Design
The design of both apps is basically the same, but certainly looks different. In both cases you see a card, with a search bar underneath, and your home and workplace if you have set it. If you want to go to the settings, you tap your profile photo to Apple on the right next to the search bar. In Waze you tap the three lines at the top left.

When you actually start navigating, the differences become greater. Waze looks very minimalist. You only see the things you really need, which ensures that you are not distracted by other things. Apple cards shows a much more detailed picture, in particular of buildings and the like in the area. Although that can distract, it also ensures that you see faster where you are and where you have to go. The one is not necessarily better than the other. It depends on what you like.
Navigation
The apps are also comparable here. They practically indicate the same routes when you type a destination. Apple cards gives an extra option for the last piece and the there is a difference of 2 minutes in the duration of the journey.

In practice, we arrive at the destination with both apps at the same time. In terms of navigation, Waze and Apple cards are both good. Here too it is a matter of personal preference, where the aforementioned difference in design probably plays a major role.
Reports
Both with Apple cards and Waze you can easily mention traffic situations that you encounter along the way. Think of traffic jams, accidents, roadworks and speed controls. Other users do this too, so that you are often warned well in advance.

This system therefore depends on the users who actively cooperate in it. The more users in it, the better it works. Waze has a large community with users who actively use the system and therefore does this better than Apple cards. It is a part that Waze really excels in!
Extra features
Apple cards has by far the most extra features. Waze is strong in simplicity and in the community’s reporting system, but has few extras to offer. This is in contrast to Apple cards. There you can, for example, download maps for offline use, which is useful if your mobile connection is lost. In addition to planning routes for when you go with your own car, you can also plan routes in cards when you go on foot, by bike, by public transport, or with a taxi. Moreover, you have different map modes including public transport and satellite.

Conclusion: Apple cards vs Waze
Apple cards and Waze are both great apps to get from A to B. Which of the two you choose depends on your personal preference. If you want a minimalist design in the car with quick traffic reports from other users, then choose Waze. If you want more information, not just navigating in the car, more options and the possibility to navigate without a mobile connection, then choose Apple cards.
Although Waze is better when it comes to users’ traffic reports, we find the many extra options and offline navigating with any means of transport, more importantly. For that reason, Apple cards are the winner for our Apple cards!
