The new year has started, so that means it’s time to look ahead. What is Apple planning in 2025? You can expect these products!
Apple in 2025
Apple has had an exciting year in 2024. For the first time since the release of the Apple Watch in 2014, the company released a completely new product. The Apple Vision Pro is now available in the United States and Europe, but in the Netherlands and Belgium we still have to wait for the spatial computer. Fortunately, the iPhone 16 series, Apple Watch Series 10, iPad mini 2024 and AirPods 4 appeared here.
The software announcements were perhaps even more exciting in 2024. The company announced Apple Intelligence and is investing in artificial intelligence on a large scale for the first time. We will have to wait a while for these functions in the Netherlands and Belgium, because Apple will not roll them out here until 2025. What else is the company planning this year? We set our expectations for you!
Overview
1. iPhone 17
Apple will release the iPhone 17 series in 2025, where we will see a completely new iPhone. The iPhone 16 Plus makes way for the iPhone 17 Air, rumored to be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever. The thinner model has one 48-megapixel camera, the A19 chip and an aluminum housing. With the iPhone 17 we see the same A19 chip, ProMotion and an improved 24-megapixel front camera.
The iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will reportedly have a modified camera island, with the three lenses placed horizontally next to each other. 2. iPhone SE 2025
We don’t have to wait until September for the next iPhone, because Apple will release the iPhone SE 2025 in the spring. Major changes are expected with the iPhone SE, such as the device will have a new design. The design is not really new, the phone has almost the same housing as the iPhone 14. Apple is thus saying goodbye to Touch ID, instead the iPhone SE is secured with Face ID.
The iPhone SE 2025 reportedly runs on the A18 chip and has one 48-megapixel camera. With this processor, the cheapest iPhone will have support for Apple Intelligence. 3. Apple Watches
No fewer than three models of the Apple Watch are planned for 2025. We see the Apple Watch Series 11, which is rumored to have a blood pressure monitor. Furthermore, the device runs on the S11 chip and Apple is working on a new micro-LED screen. We see the same processor in the Apple Watch Ultra, because the third generation will be released in 2025. The advanced Apple Watch will probably also have a blood pressure monitor.
According to recent rumors, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will allow you to send messages via a satellite connection, a feature that is so far exclusive to the iPhone. In addition to the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple will also release a new generation of the Apple Watch SE in 2025. The cheapest Apple Watch is made of plastic for the first time and has a larger display. It is not yet clear which processor the smartwatch runs on.

4. iPads
It is almost certain that Apple will release a new generation of the ‘normal’ iPad in 2025. The current version dates from 2022, so it is high time for an update. The next iPad will have the A18 chip, meaning the tablet will finally have support for Apple Intelligence. Apple has already adjusted the design of the regular iPad in 2022, so few changes are expected.
The iPad Air and iPad Pro will also receive an update in 2025. The iPad Air 2025 runs on the M4 chip, with the iPad Pro 2025 we will probably see the completely new M5 chip. Both tablets are released in two sizes, you can choose between an 11- or a 13-inch display. Just like with the iPad 2025, no major design changes are expected with the iPad Air and the iPad Pro 2025. The iPad mini will not have a successor in 2025, the iPad mini 2024 is still too new for that.
The iPad 2025 and the iPad Air 2025 will be released in the spring, the iPad Pro 2025 is not expected until the fall.
5. MacBooks
A new generation is planned for 2025 for both the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. This year the MacBook Air will switch to the M4 chip, while in the current generation it is still the M3 chip. The MacBook Air involves changes under the hood, the laptop will probably appear again in a 13- and 15-inch version. The MacBook Air 2024 has 16 GB of RAM as standard, which we will also see on the MacBook Air 2025.
The MacBook Pro 2025 runs on the M5 chip, which Apple has not used in any other device. According to rumors, Apple is working on a new design for the MacBook Pro, but that new design will not come to the laptop until 2026. So we won’t see a new design for the MacBook Pro this year. It is not yet clear what other features will be coming to the laptop.
The MacBook Air will be released in the spring of 2025, while we will have to wait until the fall for the MacBook Pro 2025.
6. Macs
For a number of Macs it is high time for an upgrade, which Apple is most likely planning for 2025. The Mac Studio currently still runs on the M2 chip, but will immediately switch to the M4 Max and M4 Ultra chips in 2025. The same applies to the Mac Pro, Apple will equip the device with the M4 Max and M4 Ultra chips in 2025. Both the Mac Studio and the Mac Pro mainly involve adjustments under the hood.
There have been rumors for some time that Apple is working on an iMac with a larger screen. Apple discontinued the 27-inch iMac in 2022, but it is quite possible that we will see a new generation of the iMac Pro in 2025. According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, the device will have a 32-inch screen and run on the M4 chip. There is still a lot of uncertainty about the next iMac, so it is not yet certain that the device will indeed be released in 2025.
The Mac Studio and Mac Pro will be released in June 2025, the release of the iMac Pro may follow in October 2025.
7. AirPods
It has now been two years since Apple launched the AirPods Pro 2, so there is a good chance that the AirPods Pro 3 will be released in 2025. The AirPods Pro will have a modified design this year. The stems of the earphones will become shorter and the charging case may have a screen. It is the first time since the introduction of the AirPods Pro that Apple has changed the design of the earphones.
The AirPods Pro also have new health functions, for example, the earphones can reportedly measure your body temperature. The AirPods 4 and the AirPods Max will probably not receive an update in 2025. 8. HomePod with display
One of the biggest announcements that Apple will make in 2025 will probably be about the HomePod. The company has been working for years on a new version of the speaker, which is equipped with a display. Apple is expected to officially announce the new HomePod with screen in 2025. The speaker will then have a 6- or 7-inch display, which is comparable to the iPad mini 2021 and the iPad mini 2024.
The screen makes it possible to control all your smart devices from the HomePod. The speaker also has a camera, with which you can make FaceTime calls or other video calls. The HomePod will therefore receive a huge update in 2025. It will also be Apple’s first smarthomeproduct, of which many more are likely to appear in the future. A new generation is also expected for the small speaker; the HomePod mini 2 is also rumored to be available in 2025.
