These will be exciting years for iPhone users, given the 8 new iPhones that Apple is currently developing according to a new rumor.
Apple is working on 8 new iPhones
The rumor that Apple is currently developing as many as 8 iPhones comes from The Information. We have listed the most important points for you.
iPhone 17e
To start, The Information reports that the iPhone 17e will likely be launched in the spring of 2026. This will be an incremental update to the iPhone 16e and uses Apple’s latest C1X modem. The iPhone 17e will have a glass back that supports magnetic wireless charging via MagSafe. This is one of the features that consumers missed the most on the iPhone 16e. Although it supports standard Qi charging, it does not support magnetic charging.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
Two of the 8 new iPhones that Apple is working on are the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max, for fall 2026. The Information says that these iPhones will have a Face ID sensor under the screen. The front camera moves to the top left corner of the screen. The iPhone 18 Pro models also get an adjustable aperture for at least one camera. This allows the addition of a new camera sensor that can capture more light at night and prevents photos from being overexposed during the day. The appearance of the iPhone 18 Pro models is similar to that of the iPhone 17 Pros.
iPhone Fold
Apple is also working on the iPhone Fold, which should be launched in the fall of 2026. The iPhone Fold will have an aspect ratio similar to the iPad when unfolded, with a 7.7-inch screen. When folded, the screen is 5.3 inches. In any case, the device will be wider than it is high when unfolded. The Information does note that the size of the screens may still change.
During the development and trial production of the iPhone Fold, Apple experienced many screen defects, according to The Information. However, this is not unusual at this stage. The selfie camera is located in the top left corner of the screen.

iPhone 18
Apple is working on the basic iPhone 18 model for the spring of 2027. The Information describes this as an incremental update. Apple will likely remove haptic feedback and touch sensitivity from camera controls.
iPhone 18e
The new iPhone 18e is also scheduled for spring 2027. According to The Information, not much is known yet about the changes to this new budget model of the iPhone. Except that the device can be charged wirelessly, just like its predecessor.
iPhone Air 2
The Information says the iPhone Air 2 is in development for spring 2027. Apple is redesigning the iPhone Air due to poor sales of the first version. Apple is considering adding a second camera and making the iPhone Air 2 cheaper.
iPhone 20
Finally, Apple is working on the iPhone 20 for fall 2027. Bloomberg previously reported on Apple’s plans for a bold 20th anniversary design for the iPhone, with more use of glass. The Information says:
“The curved glass enclosure on the front and back and along all four edges will enable a screen without the black frame that typically appears along the edges of smartphone displays. It couldn’t be learned if the display itself will curve around the edges. Instead of a full metal frame, there’s only a narrow metal band running around the midpoint of the device’s edge, where the buttons sit. Apple plans to place the phone’s selfie camera under the display, making it the first iPhone with a full edge-to-edge display and no cutouts.”
“The curved glass casing on the front and back and along all four edges allows for a screen without the black bezel typically seen along smartphone screens. It is unknown if the screen itself will also be curved along the edges. Instead of an all-metal frame, there is only a narrow metal band around the center of the edge of the device, where the buttons are located. Apple plans to place the iPhone’s selfie camera underneath the screen, making this the first iPhone with a completely bezel-less screen without recesses.”
