Apple opens Find My Network to third parties

The app is not intended for consumers, but for companies. IPhone accessory manufacturers can use Find My Certification Assistant to check how well their products are working within the Find My Apple ecosystem. You use this network to find lost iPhones, AirPods and other Apple items.
The ecosystem will soon be opened to third parties. This allows consumers to find accessories from other companies via the Find My app on iPhone, Mac and iPad. For now, the Find My feature is reserved for Apple-made accessories, such as AirPods.
Accessories maker Belkin has already said it will partner with Apple in the future. Lost headphones from Apple subsidiary Beats can also be found via the Find My app.
Prelude to AirTag?
Recovering items is expected to be an important focus area for Apple. Behind the scenes, the company has been working on the AirTag for years. You use this compact tracker to find your wallet, backpack or car keys.
According to rumors, the AirTags will cost $ 39 and the devices are small enough to easily attach them to your key ring.
Closed ecosystem is becoming more and more open
Apple has the image of a closed company, but the tide seems to be turning. For example, AirPlay was previously made available to other manufacturers. With this standard you can, for example, send music from an iPhone to a soundbar from LG, Sonos or another brand.
IOS 14, the most recent iPhone software update, also gives users more freedom. Among other things, they can set a different default email and browser app. In iOS 14 it is also possible to adjust the home screen by placing widgets on it, for example.
