During the Apple Keynote, Apple launched the AirPods Pro 3 with a longer battery life, better noise reduction and a new heart rate sensor. In this article we also explain what the difference is with the Apple Watch and why we cannot yet use the new one within the EU Live translation-function. It is positive that Apple offers the AirPods Pro 3 for 249 euros, which is 30 euros lower than for which Apple sold the AirPods Pro 2 three years ago.
More wearing comfort and better spatial sound
The AirPods Pro 3 offer more wearing comfort through a slightly smaller size and because you can choose from five different attachments that are filled with foam. That foam filling helps with the 2x improved Active Noise Cancelation.
Together with the Ultra Low Noise-Microphones the Active Noise Cancelation even works 4x better than on the first AirPods Pro. Thanks to an improved design, the air flows better to your ears for a better spatial sound. With the renewed equalizer you can hear the low tones and the details in music better.
In the Hearing-AID-Stand you can adjust the sound based on a hearing test or audiogram. The voting can also strengthen you. However, it is not a full replacement of a medical hearing aid.
Finding the ears works with the new U2 Ultra Wideband Chip 1.5x better. AirPods Pro 3 are IP 57 certified (with the previous model this IP54) and therefore better water resistant.
Taller
AirPods Pro 3 have an 8 -hour battery life when using Active Noise Cancellation. This is 2 hours longer than with the AirPods Pro 2. With only Hearing Aid, the battery life is 10 hours. Together with the charging case you can listen to a total of 24 hours. With the AirPods Pro, that was another 30 hours thanks to a somewhat larger battery in the charging case. This has made the charging case more than 10% lighter.
The AirPods Pro 3 are available from September 19 for 249 euros.
Difference heart rate sensor with Apple Watch
The New in ear You can use heart sensor in the AirPods 3 to keep track of your heart rate, calorie consumption and duration of light fitness activities. It works with infrared light that measures light absorption 256x per second in a blood vessel and thus gives an indication of the heartbeat. The motion sensors and GPS are used to estimate calorie consumption. So you no longer need Apple Watch. But for a more extensive insight into your health, detection of cardiac arrhythmias, sleep analysis and stress monitoring, a recent Apple Watch Series model still has an important added value.
Live translation not yet for us within the EU
At the new AirPods Pro 3, Apple extensively considered “Live Translation”, which will also work with AirPods Pro 2 and the AirPods 4 version with Active Noise Cancelation. If you touch both AirPods Pro 3, start the Apple Intelligence translation option. Thanks to the noise reduction you hear the voices less hard so that you can clearly hear the translation in your AirPods. You can show the translation that you yourself say on your iPhone if you put it down. Because this works with Apple Intelligence you need at least an iPhone 15 Pro for this, on which you have installed the right language in advance so that the translation can be made entirely on your iPhone.
If you have an Apple account in an EU country, you cannot use it in the EU itself. That is quite strange because from the start the next five European languages are supported, German, English, French, Portuguese (the Brazilian dialect) and Spanish. It is not the first time that Apple does not make a new function available in the EU much later. The reason for this are the towering fines that the EU can impose on a company like Apple if, in the opinion of the EU, they violate competition, privacy or data operating rules. Only when it has become clear that a new function does not break it, Apple also makes that function available within the EU. In this way, it is also a signal to the EU in which Apple shows that their regulations are overly strict or is not clear enough.
