Apple talks to battery suppliers for electric cars

The alleged electric car Apple is said to be working on is one of the great mysteries of autoland right now. Today, new rumors about Apple and its automotive adventure are surfacing. Apple is said to have sat down with the Chinese companies CATL and BYD about the supply of batteries for an electric car from the tech giant. This is according to a report from Reuters.

According to the sources on which Reuters is relying, the talks are still at an early stage and it is not yet certain whether Apple will actually work with CATL or BYD. Apple would like the battery factories for its electric car to be built in the United States as a condition of a deal. CATL, which supplies batteries to Tesla, among other things, is said to be reluctant to build a US factory because of political tensions between Washington and Beijing and concerns about costs.

Apple is rumored to be launching its electric car by 2024. the ‘Apple Car’ should be completely autonomous in addition to being electrical. Apple’s electric car project is called ‘Titan’ and has been running since 2014 when its first design was made. Apple would like to use its own battery technology. It is not clear whether the talks with CATL and BYD talk about battery technology from Apple.

Apple’s car adventure is still shrouded in mystery. At the beginning of this year, rumors surfaced about a possible collaboration between Hyundai and Apple, which were later debunked.
