8 large Apple updates
It’s time to update again! No fewer than eight new software versions are planned for today. These are major updates with which all Apple devices can be updated. For the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac (book), Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro, HomePod and AirPods, important software updates will appear tonight. Curious which those are? We put them under each other!
1. IOS 26
For the iPhone, iOS 26 is the most important software update of the year. Apple introduces Liquid Glass, which gives the operating system a completely new interface. 2. IPados 26
Where iOS 26 comes to the iPhone tonight, the iPad gets the update to iPados 26. With iPados 26, Apple also introduces Liquid Glass, which gives the iPhone and iPad a similar interface. That’s not all, because the iPad gets several new applications. This way you can use the telephone app for the first time on the Apple tablet. Multitasking is much easier from iPados 26, because the iPad takes over many useful functions from macOS.
3. Watchos 26
Do you wear an Apple Watch? In that case we have good news, because the smartwatch will get a number of useful features tonight. The Apple Watch is expanded with a sleep score, blood pressure monitor and a health coach. In addition, the smartwatch receives support for a new wrist gesture and Liquid Glass with Watchos 26 comes to the Apple Watch. The interface of the smartwatch therefore looks different than in previous versions of Watchos.
4. MacOS 26 (Tahoe)
For the Mac (book), Apple is releasing MacOS Tahoe (26) tonight. Just like the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, the Mac (book) gets a new interface with Liquid Glass. The control panel therefore looks different after installing macOS 26. Other improvements are the introduction of the telephone and games app, more accessibility functions and a renewed spotlight.
5. TVOS 26
We also see Liquid Glass on the largest screen this year, because TVOS 26 brings a new interface to the Apple TV. The control panel receives a different design by Liquid Glass and is expanded with more functions. 6. Visionos 26
The Apple Vision Pro has not yet appeared in the Netherlands and Belgium, but the operating system for the spatial computer does get annual updates. 7. HomePod Software 26
Even the HomePod will get a new software version tonight. With HomePod Software 26, Apple introduces three new functions at the speaker. The HomePod receives support for Crossfade in Apple Music, you can choose the WiFi network of the HomePod itself and the HomePod will soon support calls via the Apple TV. 8. AirPods
With iOS 26 not only your iPhone gets new functions, the AirPods also get a lot better due to new firmware. The ears are expanded with sleep detection, so that the audio is automatically paused when you fall asleep. You can also use the AirPods as a remote control when taking photos with your iPhone, so that you can place the device at a certain distance. Apple provides the operating systems with a new naming this year, so that all software versions have the same number for the first time. With this number, Apple refers to 2026, the year in which the software is mainly used.
