At the beginning of this year, Mark Gurman van Bloomberg sketched a picture of the Apple Watch SE 2025, but now says that the design will be different.
Apple Watch SE 2025 is changing
Gurman has said earlier that the Apple Watch SE will get a ‘new look’. He then said, among other things, that Apple is considering providing the Apple Watch SE with a plastic housing. The Apple Watch SE 2025 would also get a larger screen than the previous versions. In addition, the question was whether the screen would become physically larger, or whether Apple would make the edges thinner.
The message about a hard plastic housing instead of anodized aluminum is even from the beginning of July 2024. Gurman then said that Apple was planning to reduce the costs of the Apple Watch SE. The current Apple Watch SE costs € 239.99, but the cheapest competing watch from Samsung, the Galaxy Watch Fecan you find for about 100 euros less.
No plastic anyway
In Latest power on newsletter Gurman says that the Plastic Apple Watch SE 2025 may not come for two reasons, and that has to do with the design and the costs. “The design team does not like it and the operational team finds it difficult to make the housing of cheaper material than the current aluminum chassis,” he says.
An even more affordable Apple Watch SE with a colorful plastic design could have been attractive for parents who want to buy an Apple Watch for their children. But it does not look like this will become reality.
If we are allowed to believe the rumors, three new Apple Watches will be released this year: the Apple Watch SE 2025, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the Apple Watch Series 11. The last time that three new Apple Watches had appeared in 2022. Then the Apple Watch SE 2022, Apple Watch Series came out.
