Hooray, Apple has announced the new Apple Watch Series 8. Here you can read everything you need to know about the new smartwatch!
Apple Watch Series 8
The Apple event is currently ongoing. This message will be supplemented with more information during the event.
The first Apple Watch appeared in 2016 and relatively little has been done to the design since then. Apple did make small changes. For example, the Apple Watch Series 7, which came out in 2021, had a larger screen than the Series 6 by making the bezels smaller.

During the Apple event, the Cupertino company has now announced the successor: the Apple Watch Series 8. The successor to the Apple Watch Series 7 has again received a number of cool functions, but is it enough to upgrade?
Apple Watch Series 8: same design with new functions
The Apple Watch has many of the same specifications as the Apple Watch Series 7. The smartwatch has the same health functions and the always-on screen. Fortunately, there are also new functions available.

Thermometer on your wrist
The new smartwatch has got something unique this time. The Apple Watch Series 8 now has a sensor for measuring body temperature. Apple has created the function, among other things, so that women can keep an eye on their menstrual cycle.
New safety features
The Apple Watch Series 7 already had a fall detection function. The Apple Watch Series 8 adds a new function to this, this is the ‘crash detection’ that registers when you have an accident with your car. Apple uses, among other things, the gyroscope, the accelerometer and artificial intelligence to register the crash.
Are you in a car accident? Then the Apple Watch Series 8 asks if you want to call the emergency services, if you don’t respond, it sends a message itself.

New low power mode
Apple introduces a new low power mode for Apple Watch Series 4 and above. You can then use your Apple Watch on a single charge for 36 hours.
Apple Watch Series 8 colors
The new Watch is again available in various colors. This time around, Apple has again opted for a number of different colors, consisting of: midnight, starlight, PRODUCT (RED), and silver. There are also three stainless steel colors: silver, gold and graphite.

WatchOS 9 on Apple Watch Series 8
A new Apple Watch also always means a new version of WatchOS. The Apple Watch Series 8 comes with watchOS 9 installed by default. With this new version of the operating system for the smartwatch you get no less than four new watch faces. These are all astronomy themed.

In addition, the EKG app supports new health functions and your Apple Watch will soon be able to track your sleep even better. That’s how your Apple Watch knows if you’re in REM, core, or deep sleep.
Installing WatchOS 9 is only possible on an Apple Watch Series 4 or newer. The Apple Watch Series 3 unfortunately did not make it to the list of smartwatches that will receive the update.
