In 2022, Apple released the Apple Watch Ultra for the first time. The smartwatch is equipped with advanced functions such as mountain climbing, deep-sea diving and has a larger display. Last year, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 was released, with the biggest change being a brighter display and a new chip. It is expected that we will see the Apple Watch Ultra 3 in September with a number of new functions.

While earlier rumors predicted that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 would get a microLED display, it seems that Apple has postponed that plan. Instead, the smartwatch will get a new type of OLED display, which is much more energy efficient. The new screen ensures that the Apple Watch uses less energy with the always-on display enabled. New health features

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is mainly getting an update under the hood. The smartwatch is expected to run on the new S10 chip, which we will also see in the Apple Watch X. The smartwatch will also get a number of new health functions, for example this will be the first Apple Watch with a blood pressure monitor. The smartwatch can therefore give notifications in case of too high or too low blood pressure.

In addition to the blood pressure monitor, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 can also detect sleep apnea. With sleep apnea, you sometimes stop breathing for a short time while sleeping. With the new function, the Apple Watch can recognize breathing patterns and analyze sleep history. Of course, you have to wear the smartwatch at night for this. If the smartwatch detects sleep apnea, you as a user will receive a notification with the advice to go to the doctor.

More new features on the Apple Watch Ultra 3

Furthermore, few new functions are expected with the Apple Watch Ultra 3. With watchOS 11, new features are coming to the smartwatch, but we also see these in other Apple Watches with the software update. Apple may release the advanced Apple Watch in a new color, you can then choose between a light and a dark titanium version.

Previously, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 was also expected to have a dark titanium casing, but that option never came. It is now clear that Apple has worked on that variant, but that version has not been released. Hopefully that will happen with the third generation of the Apple Watch Ultra.
