After the iPhone 17 Plus, there will probably be no successor. This is why Apple won’t release an iPhone 18 Plus.
Apple will discontinue the Plus after the iPhone 17
Actually, the name already gives it away: Apple iPhone 18 Plus (or iPhone 18+). When you read this, you may think at first glance that you are dealing with an iPhone specifically for an adult audience. Or an iPhone with a special function that is not suitable for children. Secretly not that surprising, because you can now keep track of all your sexual activity in the Health app.
Of course, it remains difficult to say with one hundred percent certainty what Apple will do with this specific naming in the future. But if you look at their current policies and reputation, it seems unlikely that there will be an ’18+’ iPhone. Or an iPhone that suggests an ‘adult audience’. Even though the name iPhone 18 Plus has nothing to do with adults, you still (un)consciously think about it.
An Apple iPhone 18+ will never come
Introducing an iPhone specifically for adults would also not fit with Apple’s current image. Furthermore, it could even be seen as controversial, given current concerns about children’s access to inappropriate content on the Internet.
Moreover, it could also send the wrong message to parents who buy iPhones for their children. They may think that the iPhone is not suitable for young users.
Of course there will be an iPhone 18. But Apple will probably call the Plus series differently. There have been rumors for some time that Apple plans to rename the different models.
For example, rumors say that there may be an iPhone 16 Ultra instead of an iPhone 16 Pro Max. In the case of the iPhone 18 Plus, Apple could then choose the name iPhone 18 Max.
