Do you have an Android smartphone and is there secretly someone else’s AirTag in your bag? Until recently, you were in the dark, but that is about to change.
Android users no longer stalked with AirTags
Apple has been working on an app for some time to warn Android users about the possible proximity of someone else’s AirTag. Since an AirTag is very small, it is easy for stalkers to track their victims undetected. iPhones have had a warning system for this for a long time, but Apple now also has a solution for Android smartphones.
Apple’s official Tracker Direct app is now available on the Google Play Store. Tracker Detect looks for trackers that are separate from their owner and that are compatible with Apple’s Find My network. These trackers include the AirTag, but also compatible trackers from other manufacturers. If you think someone is using an AirTag or other tracker to track your location, you can locate them with the Tracker Detect app.
Since trackers are becoming more and more ‘normal’ and many keys have an AirTag attached to them, the app is certainly not unimportant. Your safety should not depend on the smartphone you use. It was certainly time for an Android app to intercept AirTags. Better late than never, but Apple should have come a bit sooner with this.

More about the AirTag
The AirTag is a handy device that helps you easily find things that you have lost. This involves a special technique that can locate your belongings with extra precision. You can then see exactly where your belongings are on a map. On this page you can read everything about the functions of this ‘search sensor’.
Searching for your wallet or keys is a thing of the past with the AirTag. This is a small device that you attach to your keys or to your bag. You can also put it in your bag. This makes them traceable on your iPhone in the Find My app. When you’re near your stuff, this sensor makes contact with your iPhone or iPad. The Tag will have its own tab in the app.
