Keep an overview in the MyGovernment Message Box; archive messages and documents that you no longer need.
Messages in Message Box
Government agencies send messages and important announcements via the MyGovernment Message Box. Think of tax assessments or notifications about allowances, benefits and assessments from the municipality. Over time, the Message Box can become quite full. Then archive important older messages so that they are out of sight but still preserved. The Message Box can be consulted via the browser and via the Message Box app.
Open message box via internet
The Message Box can be reached with a DigiD.
- Open the website https://mijn.overheid.nl
- click on Log in with DigiD.
- Choose whether you want to log in with the DigiD app or with username and password. In this example we click With username and password.
- Enter your DigiD username and password.
- click on login.
- If necessary, enter the SMS code and click Next one.
- Often there are new organizations that want to send messages via the Message Box. Put a checkmark in front of the organizations from which you want to receive a digital message (note: you will no longer receive paper mail from these organizations) and click on Save.
- The overview contains a list of the most recent messages. click on To your Message Box to see the overview of all received messages.
Move message to archive
- In the Message box, click on the message to be archived.
- The message opens. Click below the message Move to archive.
- Above the message is a notification that the message has been moved. Click on the left row Message box to return to the message inbox.
View message from archive
- In the Message box, click on the tab Archive. It’s under ‘My Message Box’ between ‘Inbox’ and ‘Trash’.
- Here are the archived messages. Click on a message to read it.
- Are you ready? Click on the top right Log out.
Archive via Message Box App
The Message Box app on the smartphone or tablet provides the same overview as the version via the browser. It’s a convenient way to quickly see notifications without using a PC. The app can only be used in combination with the DigiD app.
- Launch the Message Box app.
- Tap on login.
- Log in with DigiD.
- Tap on login.
- Enter your access code.
- The overview of all messages in the Message Box opens immediately. Tap the message to be archived.
- Tap below the text Move to archive.
The overview of all messages opens again. Want to see something from the archive?
- Tap at the top Archive.
- Tap the message you want to read.
- Are you ready?
- Tap the gear icon in the top left.
- Tap on Log out.
- Tap on OK.
